Dentons adds former Dechert’s partner Stephen Chan to its corporate practice in Hong Kong.
Chan, who has 20 years of experience in the legal field, specialises in corporate transactions, including public and private M&A, private equity, REIT listings, restructurings, IPO and general compliance matters.
Before joining Dentons, the corporate and securities field specialist worked at Dechert’s Hong Kong office for more than seven years where he led a team to advise on the privatisation of New Century’s Real Estate Investment Trust – HKEX’s first delisting and deauthorisation of a Hong Kong-listed REIT.
His clients have included CICC, HSBC, China Financial Services and CITIC Securities Company.
Dechert scaled down its corporate practice in Greater China in March, with its eight-strong Hong Kong team reduced to four, but later brought in a new lawyer to the team.
Prior to joining Dechert, Chan was formerly a partner at Latham & Watkins and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
