Minoru Kobayashi is a partner at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune and has been involved in a wide range of real estate transactions, including the sale and purchase of the real estate, commercial leasing and real estate developments. Kobayashi has particular strength in complex real estate finance and real estate funds, and regularly represents lenders, sponsors, asset managers, developers, investors and other key players, including various financial institutions and global real estate funds, dealing with various types of assets including office buildings, residential buildings, commercial facilities, logistics facilities, hotels and healthcare assets.
Kobayashi’s practice also focuses on capital market transactions and has represented foreign issuers and managers in public and private offerings of debt and equity securities in Japan and globally. With the combination of his experience in real estate and capital markets, he is also highly experienced in handling public and private offerings of units of Japanese real estate investment trusts (REITs). Kobayashi’s practice also focuses on securitisation, the establishment of investment funds and other structured financing transactions involving numerous asset classes.
In addition to his real estate, capital market and structured finance practice, Kobayashi also has experience in M&As and general corporate matters including corporate restructurings, licensing and international trade. Kobayashi is a graduate of the University of Tokyo (LLB, 1995) and the University of Virginia (LLM, 2002). He is admitted to practice law in Japan (1997) and New York (2003).
