Introduction

Maurice Maulana Situmorang is a partner with Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (Dentons HPRP). As one of the leading figures in Dentons HPRP, particularly in mining and natural resources, power and energy, as well as technology, media and telecommunications sectors, Maurice has extensive and comprehensive experience assisting domestic and international clients with complex and significant deals and transactions. Among other important transactions, Maurice led a Dentons HPRP team providing complete legal assistance in complex multi-region transactions, such as the listing of Silkroad Nickel, the first nickel mining company on the Singapore Exchange Catalist as well as the largest Series B round in Southeast Asia in 2021 with USD170 million in total. Currently, he is leading a team assisting with the integration plan of the largest plantation group of companies in Indonesia by land size, aiming to make the integrated company publicly listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, which shall make it the largest publicly listed plantation company in the world.

Maurice’s excellent work is recognised not only by clients but also by leading publications, among others, as a Notable Practitioner in Corporate M&A by IFLR1000 for four consecutive years from 2019 to 2022, as a finalist in Young Lawyer of the Year in ALB Indonesia Law Awards 2019 and 2021, and a finalist in Deal Maker of the Year in ALB Indonesia Law Awards 2021. Moreover, a client’s project, a collaboration on a nickel project in Papua province of Indonesia, which was assisted by Maurice and his team, was recognised as a finalist in the M&A Deal of the Year at ALB Indonesia Law Awards 2019.

Maurice’s determination and perfection-driven work ethic have earned him considerable trust from his colleagues. Maurice leads the mining and natural resources sector and co-leading the firm’s power and energy, and technology, media, and telecommunication sectors. Last year, he was appointed Dentons Asean’s sector leader for the mining and natural resources sector. Admitted to senior partnership recently, Maurice is the firm’s youngest senior partner.
