Introduction
Jennifer Tumbuan is an experienced corporate lawyer who has been in practice for more than 20 years. She has been a partner of Tumbuan & Partners (T&P) since April 2011. Prior to that, she was the retained general counsel of a private equity firm for three years and was a senior associate in a major law firm in Jakarta. She graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia and earned her LLM degree from the Faculty of Law of Leiden University majoring in international business law in 2003. She is admitted to practice as an advocate, capital markets legal consultant and trustee in bankruptcy and administrator in Indonesia.
She was awarded by ALB Indonesia as the Woman Lawyer of the Year 2020, as well as a distinguished practitioner in banking and finance, capital markets in 2022 and 2021 from Asialaw Profiles; managing partner of the year in 2021 and finalist dealmaker of the year 2021 in the ALB Indonesia Law Awards; finalist dealmaker of the year 2021, finalist regional managing partner of the year 2020 in the ALB South East Asia Law Awards; and recognised as a highly regarded lawyer in capital markets and M&A in 2021 from IFLR1000.
At T&P, she has been intensively involved in the issuance of capital market securities by Indonesian companies, including IPOs, rights issues and bonds, banking and finance, acquisitions, debt restructuring and mining projects and general corporate work. T&P was awarded numerous awards and nominations including the winner in the debt market deal of the year (midsize) category in the ALB Indonesia Law Awards 2022, winner of law firm with the largest number of bonds transactions in domestic market in the 2021 and winner as the most active law firm by bond transactions in domestic market in 2020 and 2021 in Hukumonline, Indonesia’s leading legal platforms.
She currently also holds the role of the head of legal and government section of the Association of Venture Funds for Startups in Indonesia, the vice chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of the Indonesian Advocates Association, the general secretary of the Association of Capital Market Legal Consultants.
