Introduction

Ivan Ferdiansyah Baely obtained his master of laws degree at the University of Melbourne, on completion of his bachelor of law degree from the University of Indonesia. He is fluent in both Indonesian and English.

Before establishing IABF Law Group, Ivan had professional experience across a number of major firms in Jakarta, a government agency (the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency or IBRA) and a foreign consulting company. This breadth of experience and sector knowledge has enabled him to guide his clients to the best commercial business outcome available. Ivan has particular expertise in advising on banking and finance, debt restructuring, M&A, foreign investment, corporate and commercial law, joint ventures, labour, employment and immigration, bankruptcy and corporate secretarial works.

In 2003, Ivan and Almaida Askandar founded IABF Law Group, which has become one of the leading law firms in Indonesia. Ivan’s clients range from individuals and startup enterprises to leading business companies in Indonesia, including large national and multinational companies.

Ivan is a licensed capital markets lawyer, a receiver and an administrator for bankruptcy. He is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Indonesian Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia), the Capital Market Legal Consultant Association (Himpunan Konsultan Hukum Pasar Modal), the Indonesian Competition Lawyer Association (ICLA), the Indonesian Receiver and Administrator Association (Asosiasi Kurator and Pengurus Indonesia) and registered consultant for money market supporting institutions conducting activities related to commercial securities in the money market.

Aside from his daily activities as the managing partner at IABF Law Group, Ivan is also active as one of the chairs of the University of Indonesia Alumni Association (Ikatan Alumni Universitas Indonesia) and as a member of the foreign affairs committee at the Indonesian Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia).
