Introduction
Rahul Chadha is the managing partner of Chadha & Co. He works closely with the senior management of the firm’s leading multinational clients on strategy formulation, M&A, private equity, government policy, regulatory matters and management issues that impact their business in India. He also advises clients on corporate governance, technology transfer and licensing, and infrastructure.
Chadha started his professional career in 1992 with Unilever’s Indian subsidiary. Subsequently, he set up a joint-venture company with Singaporean and Ukrainian partners in the field of underground mine construction. He then co-founded a women-focused e-commerce company which grew to be India’s largest women’s portal, which was eventually acquired by the Times of India group. Thereafter, Chadha managed and grew the Indian operations of one of the first knowledge-process outsourcing companies set up in India, along with a team of consultants from McKinsey. The company was acquired by a subsidiary of ICICI Bank and subsequently by a subsidiary of Standard & Poor’s. In the above assignments, he was responsible for managing regulatory issues, corporate governance, M&A and raising capital.
Chadha is a member of the board of directors of the Indian subsidiaries of several leading multinational companies. He has served on the board of a leading international association of law firms, accounting firms, M&A specialists and tax advisers. Chadha is actively involved in mentoring startups and is a charter member of The Indus Entrepreneurs. He is a co-founder of the joint mentoring programme of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He is a sought-after speaker and has authored several articles and chapters on Indian laws and regulations for domestic and international publications. In addition to his law degree, Chadha holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering from University of Delhi and an MBA from the IIM Bangalore.
