Introduction

Suhaan Mukerji is the founding partner of PLR Chambers, a law firm specialising in public policy and regulatory affairs pan-India, which has been awarded one of the best Policy and Regulatory Law Firms of the Year by India Business Law Journal every year since 2014, and received Legal Era Awards in 2017, 2016 and 2015. He consistently advises clients on corporate affairs, market entry and public policy strategy in India, primarily involving sectors of defence, information and communications technology, gaming, privacy and data protection, anti-corruption and white-collar crime, public procurement, food agriculture and pharmaceuticals law, not-for-profit laws, education, internet and e-commerce, fintech, international trade and investment disputes.

He regularly represents and assists clients before the Supreme Court of India, CBI courts, various ministries and departments of the federal government, including the DIPP, Department of Economic Affairs, Road Transport Highways, Shipping, Commerce and Industries, Fertilisers and Chemicals, Environment, Defence, Renewable Energy, Power, Coal, Mining, MEITY and DoT, DRI, various state governments including Haryana, Telangana, Delhi, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, regulators including the RBI, SEBI, DGCA, SFIO, FSSAI, TRAI, and various law enforcement agencies across the country.

Suhaan regularly advises the government at federal and state level on policy and legislative reform, serving on a number of government and industry committees, and regularly appearing as an expert witness before parliamentary standing committees. Legislative drafting assignments include, Amendments to the Information Technology Act, Maritime Act, The Major Ports Bill, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways – Road Transport and Safety Bill; Department of Heavy Industries – the CEMM Bill; Inland Waterways Authority – PPP framework, Tourism Bill.

He is a passionate supporter of development initiatives and serves on the board of a number of leading global not-for-profit organisations.
