Introduction

Cornel B Juniarto is currently a managing partner at Hermawan Juniarto & Partners with 27 years of extensive legal experience and complex deals in corporate and commercial law, M&A, business streamlining, capital markets, family business governance, data privacy, and debt restructuring. As a testament to his expertise, he was also a former founding partner of Hermawan Juniarto (in association with Hogan Lovells International, and Hermawan, Prasetyo & Juniarto.

Throughout his professional legal career, Cornel has advised and represented numerous multinational companies, state-owned enterprises, government agencies, and certain blue-chip clients on corporate commercial regulatory matters and capital market transactions, including IPOs, pre-emptive rights, issuance of bonds, and acquisitions. Cornel is also known to be heavily involved in corporate restructuring and debt restructuring, either through court-sanctioned restructuring or out-of-court proceedings.

Cornel has a robust and growing involvement in legal publications, as he was a contributor to the first publication of the Indonesia Corporate Governance Manual published by the International Corporation (IFC) and Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK).

He is a permanent contributor to the Indonesia chapter in the International Labour and Employment Laws and Workplace Data Law and Litigations, both published by Bloomberg BNA. Cornel is also an active contributor to the publication of the Deloitte Legal Handbook for various topics, such as real estate transactions and franchises.

Cornel is a valued member of the Indonesian Advocate Association (PERADI), member of the International Bar Association (IBA), head of the Permanent Committee on Licensing Service and OSS (KADIN), member of the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL), member of the Indonesia Receiver Administrator (AKPI), and member of the Financial Institution and International Affairs Association of Capital Market Legal Consultants (HKHPM). He is also a member of the judging panel in the Indonesia Property Awards (managed by Property Guru), part of the Asia Property Awards.

He has been named as one of Asia Business Law Journal‘s A-List lawyers in Indonesia for the fifth consecutive year from 2019 to 2023. The A-List is based on extensive research conducted by Asia Business Law Journal against thousands of in-house counsel and partners at international law firms around the world.
