Introduction

Jennifer B. Tumbuan is an experienced corporate lawyer who has been in practice for more than 20 years. She has been a partner of Tumbuan & Partners (T&P) since April 2011. Prior to joining T&P, she was the retained general counsel of a private equity firm for 3 years and prior to that, she was a senior associate in a major law firm in Jakarta. She graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia. In 2003 she earned her LL.M degree from the Faculty of Law, Leiden University in the Netherlands, majoring in International Business Law. She is admitted to practice as an Advocate, Capital Market Legal Consultant and trustee in bankruptcy (Kurator) and administrator (Pengurus) in Indonesia.

She was awarded by ALB Indonesia as the Woman Lawyer of the Year 2020. She also has a number of awards and nominations including as a Distinguished Practitioner in Banking and Finance, Capital Markets Year 2022 and 2021 from Asia Law Profiles; Managing Partner of the Year 2021, Finalist Dealmaker of the Year 2021 in the ALB Indonesia Law Awards; Finalist Dealmaker of the Year 2021, Finalist Regional Managing Partner of the Year 2020 in the ALB South East Asia Law Awards; and recognized as a Highly Regarded Lawyer in the Fields of Capital Markets & Mergers and Acquisitions Year 2021 from IFLR1000.

Within T&P, she has been intensively involved in the issuance of capital market securities by Indonesian companies, including IPOs, rights issues and bonds; banking and finance; acquisitions, debt restructuring and mining projects in Indonesia and general corporate work. T&P was awarded numerous awards and nominations including the Boutique Law Firm of the Year 2015, the Equity Market Deal of the Year 2016 and the Transactional Boutique Law Firm of the Year 2019.

She currently also holds the role as the Head of Legal and Government section of the Association of Venture Funds for Startups in Indonesia, the Vice Chairman of International Cooperation Committee of the Indonesian Advocates Association, the General Secretary of Association of Capital Market Legal Consultants and the Vice Chairman of the Expat Catholic Parish; and has been involved in several webinars and seminars being the host, speaker and/or moderator.
