Introduction
Billy Chen is a partner/senior consultant in the Taipei office of global law firm K&L Gates. He has extensive experience in representing international and domestic clients in various areas of law, including mergers & acquisitions (M&A), capital markets, investment management/finance, renewable energy projects and general corporate matters.
Prior to joining the firm in 2007, Chen practiced as an associate in Michigan, where he focused on corporate, civil and criminal law. He also served as corporate counsel to companies in Taiwan and China.
Chen is recognised as a next generation partner in corporate/M&A (Taiwan) by the Legal 500 Asia-Pacific Guides (2019–2024).
He is licensed to practice in the districts of Columbia and Michigan. He graduated from National Taipei University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, Florida State University with a master’s degree in management information systems, Thomas M Cooley Law School with a doctor of jurisprudence and Soochow University with a master’s degree in law. He speaks English, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese.
