Prudence JAHJA

Introduction

Prudence Jahja is currently the managing partner of Januar Jahja and Partners (JJP). She is widely regarded as one of the leading IP lawyers in Indonesia. As both a registered IP consultant and licensed attorney in Indonesia, her practice focuses primarily on trademark prosecution and IP litigation, as well as transactional and enforcement issues, including infringement matters and online takedowns. She also has experience advising on patent, industrial design, and copyright matters as well.

Jahja’s work has been recognised by various outlets such as the Legal 500, WTR 1000, Managing IP/ IP Stars, and Chambers Asia Pacific. She has been named one of the Top 250 Women in IP and one of Indonesia’s Top 100 Lawyers. Clients have described her as “highly responsive”, “very commercial” (WTR 1000, 2025), and “an excellent lawyer” who “sets the standard for her team” (Chambers Asia Pacific 2024).

Jahja holds a bachelor degree in economic and business law from Atma Jaya University in Jakarta, Indonesia and earned a master’s degree in IP and competition law from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre (MIPLC) at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany. As part of her studies in Germany, Jahja interned at a German IP law firm based in Munich. After receiving her LLM, she worked at an IP firm in Manhattan, New York. She also served as a judicial intern for the chief judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, DC

Jahja is licensed to practice law in Indonesia (PERADI), as well as before the Indonesian Intellectual Property Office (DJKI).
