Introduction

Tanjib-Ul Alam is a leading corporate law expert in Bangladesh with extensive experience in banking, project finance, telecommunications and foreign investment advisory. He has played a key role in drafting several landmark legislations, including the new Companies Act (as lead consultant of the International Finance Corporation (IFC)), the Telecommunication Act, the ICT Act, and the Energy Regulatory Commission Act. As lead counsel, he has overseen major transactions such as the Robi-Airtel merger, Grameenphone’s GPIT acquisition by Accenture, and significant investments in bKash by global entities such as the IFC, Gates Foundation, Alipay and Softbank. Alam frequently represents clients before the Supreme Court and has acted as arbitrator in high-value domestic and international disputes. He has led numerous World Bank and PricewaterhouseCoopers-funded legal reform projects, and advised Dhaka Stock Exchange in its strategic offloading of shares. A senior advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Alam was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1997.
