Introduction

Steven Hsu is a highly experienced prosecutor and lawyer with 20 years of practice in Taiwan. During his time as a prosecutor, he specialised in investigating and prosecuting a wide range of white-collar crimes, including those related to intellectual property, cybercrime, personal data protection, and major financial crimes. Today, he is deeply trusted by his clients and widely recognised as an outstanding intellectual property and criminal lawyer, with a particular focus on establishing, auditing, and maintaining trade secret systems in corporations, as well as conducting trade secret litigation and digital forensics.

Hsu’s expertise in information technology and finance has also led him to be heavily involved in the fields of cyber law, technology investigations, artificial intelligence and privacy, fintech, blockchain, decentralised finance, corporate governance, securities, financial derivatives, and anti-money laundering. He believes that lawyers have a vital role to play in helping judges understand the facts in technology-related cases, which can be complex and difficult to navigate. To this end, Hsu has cultivated strong relationships with experts in these fields, which has enabled him to provide judges with the information they need to make informed decisions and reduce the risk of legal misjudgment.

Hsu earned his law degree from the prestigious National Taiwan University and the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University School of Law. He is proficient in both Chinese and English, and also holds several certifications, including Certified Ethical Hacker, Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System Lead Auditor, and ISO 27701:2021 Privacy Information Security Management System Lead Auditor.

In 2017, Hsu founded Hsu & Associates, Taiwan’s first paperless and virtual law firm, which operates entirely through remote work. With more than 90% of his team regularly working from home, Hsu and his team are proficient in various online tools to enhance their work efficiency.
