Introduction
Roderico V Puno is widely recognised as a leading authority in Philippine energy law. He earned his AB in Political Science (1985) and bachelor of laws (1989) from the Ateneo de Manila University, and later obtained his master of laws with honours from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois.
With more than three decades of experience, he has built a distinguished career as a strategic adviser to clients across diverse industries, with a strong focus on energy and infrastructure. His commercially minded approach and deep institutional knowledge have enabled him to guide clients in structuring and executing complex transactions.
Puno played a pivotal role in shaping the Philippine energy sector as part of the Technical Working Group of the House Committee on Energy that drafted the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA), the landmark legislation governing the country’s power industry. He currently serves as chairperson of the Energy Lawyers Association of the Philippines (ELAP) and is the managing partner of Puno & Puno Law Offices.
Consistently recognised among the country’s top lawyers, Puno has been cited by Chambers & Partners, IFLR1000, Asia Pacific Legal 500, Asialaw, and numerous international legal publications.
