Introduction

Do Trong Hai is the principal founder and managing partner of Bizlink Lawyers. Before founding Bizlink Lawyers in 2007, he worked as managing director of another prominent law firm in Vietnam for seven years. He also actively practices as an arbitrator of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC).

With more than 27 years of practice, Hai has advised and represented hundreds of foreign and domestic giant corporations, groups and financial institutions in a broad spectrum of practice areas, including cross-border investments, banking and finance, corporate and M&A, dispute resolution, real estate & construction, etc. In any practice involved, he has always been highly appraised by his clients for his renowned expertise.

Hai illustrates his exceptional strength in dispute resolution. He represented his clients in hundreds of cases before courts in Vietnam and arbitrations using rules of ICC, VIAC and SIAC, etc. His high-profile ICC arbitration case seated in Singapore is an example where he is probably the first lawyer in Vietnam acting as the case lead counsel (in a group of participating law firms from Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, and Switzerland) in an EPE contract dispute over USD50 million. Hai was also the Vietnam lead counsel representing the US and Europe government guarantors and lenders respectively in the Vietnam first finance-lease transactions of four 777 Boeing and four Airbus planes with Vietnam Airlines in the early 2000s.

For many years, Hai has been recognised as a leading lawyer in several practice areas by many international legal publications. For instance, he has been recognised as a leading lawyer in construction and real estate (2014), as a market-leading lawyer in banking & finance, and construction (2017, 2018), and as an elite practitioner in dispute resolution (2019, 2020 2021) by Asialaw. He has also been highly recommended as a leading lawyer in corporate/M&A: Mid-market and dispute resolution by Chambers & Partners (2011, 2012).

Hai earned an LLM degree from the UC Berkeley School of Law (US), an LLB degree from the Hanoi Law University, a BA from the Hanoi National Economics University and a BA from the Hanoi Foreign Language University.
