Introduction
Resident in Thailand since 1994, Stephen is head of the Asia corporate team at Hunton Andrews Kurth. He has more than 25 years of practice experience in Thailand in mergers and acquisitions, fintech, foreign investment, corporate finance and telecommunications.
Before joining Hunton Andrews Kurth, Stephen was a partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Stephen has served as counsel for both private and public entities, and has completed some of the largest M&A transactions in Thailand.
In the past 12 months, he has represented the International Finance Corporation on its purchase of shares in PRINC; advised JPMorgan of its derivative warrants programme, including foreign index linked derivative warrants; represented Ares SSG on the sale of a substantial shareholding in Alpha Capital Asset Management to 9 Basil, a Bangkok-based multi-family investment manager led by Schwin Chiaravanont and Kris Panijpan; advised China Literature, China’s largest digital content provider, on its investment in Ookbee U and subsequent copyright joint venture; represented Tate & Lyle on its investment in a local modified starch producer; advised Ares SSG on its debt to equity conversion and restructuring of G Steel and represented Italian-Thai in respect of the elevated high-speed rail link to U-Tapao Airport.
