Introduction

Andreas Hartono has been in legal practice since 2000 and has assisted multinational corporations, publicly listed companies and privately-owned companies in Indonesia and the region operating in fast-moving consumer goods, tyre manufacturing and distribution, energy and natural resources, shipping, cable manufacturing, chemical trading, asset management, construction, retail business, music recording and publishing, and the multimedia industry.

He has advised these clients in their corporate actions and day-to-day operations. He has also successfully represented clients in various court cases (civil, criminal, bankruptcy, debt moratorium and restructuring).

In the past five years, Andreas and his team have successfully brought numerous Indonesian companies, from bolt and nut distributors, technology research and development, material engineering and nanotechnology, bicycle distributor, property development, transportation, IT hardware rental and distribution services, hotel, tobacco shack manufacturing, logistics, cosmetics, laboratory services, computer and computer peripheral manufacturing, car body manufacturing and the medical cotton manufacturing sector, to undertake public offerings and list their shares at the Indonesian stock exchanges, as well as to undertake reverse takeovers of Indonesian listed companies.

He has also been very active in foreign investment, cross-border M&A, project financing, employment, dispute resolution, bankruptcy, and temporary suspension of debt payment obligations. He is a member of the Indonesian Bar Association (Peradi), the Indonesian Advocates Association (AAI), the Capital Market Lawyers Association (HKHPM), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Indonesian Receiver and Administrator Association (AKPI), and the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (CIArb).

He graduated from the Law Faculty of Tarumanagara University in 1997 and the Master of Laws programme in international banking law at the Boston University School of Law in 1999. In 2001, he took an integrated tax (brevet) A and B course held by the Artha Bakti Financial Training Institute, Ministry of Finance. In 2012, he attended a diploma course in international commercial arbitration at St Anne’s College, Oxford University, held by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. In 2015, he attended a receiver and administrator course and obtained a qualification as a receiver and administrator from the Indonesian Receiver and Administrator Association (AKPI).
