Introduction
NGUYEN Dang Viet has practised law since 2000 and is regarded as among the best in Vietnam. He heads Bizconsult Law Firm as a senior partner, bringing decades of experience in the corporate & commercial, M&A, banking & finance, real estate, construction, litigation, labour & employment practice areas.
NGUYEN completed his LLB at Hanoi Law University (1999), LLM at the Transnational Law & Business University (TLBU) in Seoul, Korea (2006), where he did field studies at international organisations (the TLBU Institute in Paris; the WTO & WIPO in Geneva; ICC & ICJ in Hague; EU Commission in Brussels), and a training course in international mergers & acquisitions at the College of Law of England and Wales in the UK (2007). He was admitted to the Hanoi Bar Association.
In his career, he has represented clients across a spectrum of regions and industries including real estate development, hydro and thermal power plants, construction, pulp and paper production, logistics, securities, insurance, banking, F&B, etc. His clients include multinational corporations such as Chemonics International (US), Dunkin Brands (US), Papa John (US), Daewoo E&C (Korea), Samsung E&C (Korea), POSCO E&C (Korea), Hyundai E&C (Korea), Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering (Japan), Sojitz (Japan), Petronas (Malaysia), Qatar Airlines (Qatar), TOTAL (France), Capitaland (Singapore), Keppel Land (Singapore), Setia (Malaysia), Gamuda Land (Malaysia), ANZ Bank, UOB (Singapore), UNDP, etc., and other major corporations in Vietnam.
NGUYEN has featured in dozens of articles commenting on legal provisions in Vietnam and recommendations for developments. Published articles can be found in both international and regional newspapers and publishing houses, such as Asian Counsel Magazines, Asia Law & Practice Magazines, Vietnam News, Vietnam Investment Review, etc. He contributed to Legal Environment for Business Development Services in Vietnam published in 2004 by the GTZ SME Project and Contract Laws published in 2009 by GTZ and the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam. He is a long-term contributor to research on the Vietnam chapter for Doing Business, which is published annually by the World Bank.
