Satyapon SACHDECHA

Introduction

Satyapon Sachdecha is the managing partner at Satyapon & Partners, having established the firm in 1995. He completed his law degrees from leading Thai and US law schools. Satyapon has been practising exclusively in the field of intellectual property for almost 40 years, with a special focus on trademarks, copyright and patents, and is a pioneer in anti-counterfeiting and brand enforcement in Thailand.

He stands as one of Thailand’s foremost authorities in IP law. Beginning his career at a time when few in Thailand understood the nuances of IP law, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the modern IP legal landscape of Thailand through decades of dedicated practice and leadership. He has been consistently ranked as one of the leading IP lawyers in Thailand, has served in numerous committees to oversee the development of IP law, including the president of the Intellectual Property Association of Thailand for five consecutive terms, the vice president of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property in Thailand for more than 10 years, and an IP expert to the Thai Trademark Board. He has been recognised by several leading publications for more than three decades for his achievements in the IP field.

Satyapon’s exceptional work and success rate in anti-counterfeiting and brand enforcement have played a significant role in protecting the rights of the global brands in Thailand. Owing to his contributions, the firm has established itself as the country’s leading law firm in enforcement actions, consistently spearheading hundreds of customs seizures and police raid actions annually. Satyapon is regularly invited by eminent authorities, including the police, the Customs Department, the Ministry of Justice and prominent universities, to speak on contemporary issues related to IP.

A known and respected figure among prominent law enforcement agencies, Satyapon is actively engaged in conducting training and brand awareness programmes for the authorities to better protect brand owners’ IP rights.

Outside of work, Satyapon is heavily engaged in academics, delivering lectures on IP law at some of the most prestigious universities in Thailand and helping create a new generation of tech-savvy IP lawyers for the future.
