Introduction
Seishi Ikeda is a partner at Baker McKenzie and the head of the real estate group at its Tokyo office. He earned his LLB from the University of Tokyo (1991) and obtained his LLM from Emory School of Law (2000). He is qualified to practise in Japan (1994) and New York (2001). He served as an in-house lawyer at a major European investment bank from 2002 to 2004.
He has long served as a member of the Japan Securities Dealers Association’s solicitation working group. He is also registered as a real estate notary (2018), condominium manager (2019) and master property manager (2019).
Ikeda’s recent focus is on real estate transactions, particularly data centre and hotel developments, while he also advises on a wide range of commercial and residential properties, often involving TK-GK and TMK structures for tax purposes. His work includes fundraising and regulatory matters, office relocation, construction and leasing. He may also handle disclosure matters and cross-border M&A deals, including large fund acquisitions.
