Nasirud DOULAH

Introduction

Nasirud Doulah is a seasoned corporate, finance and construction lawyer with project finance and development and documentary credit as his specialistareas. He advised on many major projects in energy and infrastructure sectors with extensive public-private partnership (PPP) and infrastructure transaction advisory experience. Under the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC) appointment, he acted as a key researcher to complete the Bangladesh Corporate Governance Country Assessment Report. He advised on many significant M&A matters. He is also a member of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s tax and anti-money-laundering research teams. Some major transaction highlights include the following:

• Acted as local legal counsel for the IFC and Excelerate Energy in project development and financing of the first LNG terminal (FSRU) project in Bangladesh at Maheshkhali;
• Structuring and developing more than 81 power projects for clients such as General Electric, Blackstone, Golar Power, AES and El Paso, ; as well as representing major players in developing renewable independent power producers (IPPs) such as Sinennergy, Scatecand CMEC;
• Assisting on major M&As including the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Shanghai Stock Exchange aquisition of Dhaka Stock Exchange, the Holcim and Lafarge merger, and Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia;
• Acting on major PPP and infrastructure development projects, including all toll roads such as the first Dhaka elevated expressway, the Dhaka bypass and second Kanchpur-Meghna-Gumti bridges;
• Acting for sponsors and lenders in project developments, including the Chinese economic zone at Anwara and China-Bangladesh iron and steel production zone;
• Acting as lender’s counsel for the IFC, European Investment Bank, Islamic Development Bank, Finnfund, China Exim Bank, China Development Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in many projects; and
• Acting for all the latest gas exploration PSC contract awards for ONGC, OIL, POSCO & Daewoo.

His clients include GECAS, Aercape, EDC, Ant Financial, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Facebook.
