Charles Russell Speechlys has strengthened its corporate team in Singapore with the appointment of Tun Zaw Mra as a partner.

“With his extensive experience in complex M&A and corporate transactions across the UK, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, Tun will play a crucial role in helping our clients to deploy their capital effectively and maximise the value of their investments,” Simon Green, partner and head of Asia at Charles Russell Speechlys, told Asia Business Law Journal.

Mra joins the firm from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, bringing more than 14 years of experience in M&A and other corporate transactions. His expertise spans investments, M&A, disposals, and joint ventures in both developed and emerging markets. His work includes advising Asia-based clients on real estate investments in the UK and Europe, as well as supporting global clients in navigating investments and operations in Asia. Mra’s previous achievements include contributing to the drafting of the Myanmar Companies Law 2017 and a secondment to WorldPay’s in-house legal team in London.

“Insights from reports, such as Knight Frank’s 2024 wealth report, indicate that Asia’s wealthy population is expected to grow faster than any other region in the world by 2028 … With the addition of Tun, we are bolstering our corporate and finance transaction capabilities,” said Green.
