Introduction
Woo Young Jung is a partner in the banking and finance group at Lee & Ko (formerly managing partner until 2022) with more than 33 years of experience in finance and general banking. As a banking attorney, he has advised on a wide range of financing schemes, including asset financing, structured finance, securities, corporate rehabilitation, and asset-backed securitisation.
He counsels shipping companies and financial institutions (both domestic and international) on acquisitions of new and second-hand ships, offshore oil and gas projects, cross-border leases, tax leases under US, UK, and French revenue regulations, fund schemes, and other structured finance arrangements. Many of these transactions have set benchmarks in the Korean market.
In addition, he has actively contributed to the development of maritime policies, including the establishment, revision and extension of the Ship Investment Company Act, the tonnage tax system, and introduction of the tax lease system.
