Veena Sivaramakrishnan is an equity partner in the firm’s banking and finance and insolvency and bankruptcy practice, with over 16 years of experience. She also has significant experience in financial services regulatory, derivatives and restructuring. She has spearheaded and evaluated complex structures with the interplay of multiple jurisdictions while advising clients on financing structures, restructuring and enforcement.
Her role is significantly diversified and she acts on key types of mandates, which include:
Restructuring and insolvency – Veena regularly advises (a) foreign banks, ARCs and foreign distressed funds in their investment in Indian entities either within or outside the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, directly and synthetically, and (b) resolution applicants, resolution professionals and the Committee of Creditors within IBC.
Financial sector collaboration – Veena spearheaded the merger of Capital First (and its subsidiaries) with IDFC Bank, one of the first bank-NBFC mergers in India. She continues to advise on marquee transactions, such as Bandhan- Gruh merger and most recently the DBS–LVB amalgamation.
Financing – Veena regularly advises on cross-border financing, asset financing, acquisition financing and real estate financing, specifically for foreign banks and private equity players. Structured finance, including on a cross-border basis, is Veena’s forte.
Advisory – banks and financial institutions regularly seek Veena’s assistance for matters that impact their Indian operations. Veena is also active in the specialized field of derivatives.
