Technology & TelecomsCyientNavroze PalekarVice President & Global Head - Legal, Compliance and Procurement

Cyient's legal and compliance team is a 22-member function supporting the company’s operations in more than 20 countries across aerospace, rail, energy, communications, semiconductors, defence, mining and spatial intelligence. Headquartered in Hyderabad, the team advises on commercial contracting, mergers and acquisitions, disputes, intellectual property, employment, corporate governance and global regulatory compliance, including data protection, export controls and anti-bribery.
The team is deliberately structured as a generalist, cross-functional unit rather than a set of practice silos. Lawyers rotate across dispute resolution, employment, M&A, advisory and general corporate work, which builds depth of business understanding, removes single-person dependencies and allows the function to absorb peaks in transactional and contentious workload without expanding headcount.
During the past year, the team has supported three cross-border acquisitions and strategic investments, managed complex multi-party litigation in the US, and resolved several significant commercial disputes through negotiated settlements rather than escalation. Alongside this, it has rebuilt the company’s legal infrastructure: an AI-enabled contract lifecycle management platform handling more than 3,000 contracts a year, a risk-based compliance framework deployed across 16 countries, denied-party screening embedded in front-end business systems, and an in-house incident reporting and investigation platform. The result is a function that operates as a strategic partner to the business rather than a support service.
