Helmsman has appointed Raj Mannar as a director and head of the firm’s corporate and M&A practice in Singapore.
Mannar joins from CHP Law, where he spent more than seven years, including five as a director.
With close to 15 years of experience, he specialises in corporate and commercial matters, M&A, corporate governance, investments, fundraising and employment. He also focuses on cross-border acquisitions and divestments, joint ventures and corporate restructurings, and equity and debt fundraisings.
“Raj is a lawyer of considerable calibre, and his addition to the team reflects the strength of talent we look to bring on board. He brings real depth of experience and the kind of practical, commercial instinct that fits well with how we work at Helmsman. It was not a decision driven by any one practice area – it is part of a broader approach we take to talent acquisition,” Helmsman managing director Ian Teo told Asia Business Law Journal.
Teo said there were plans to continue expanding the Helmsman team, including within the corporate and M&A practice.
“Yes, we do expect to keep growing. Corporate and M&A is one area we are building, largely driven by demands from our existing clients,” he said.
