CMS partner Mariel Dimsey will take up the post of secretary-general at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre in August while Eric Ng, who currently serves as HKIAC’s managing counsel, is being promoted to deputy secretary-general.

Dimsey is co-head of CMS’ international arbitration group and has more than 15 years of experience as adviser, advocate and arbitrator in international cases. Dimsey started her career in Frankfurt and worked at Hogan Lovells before joining the CMS Hong Kong office in 2018 where she helped build a thriving international commercial and investment arbitration practice.

She is a member and past co-chair of the HK45 Committee, a group for arbitration practitioners under the age of 45, that promotes Hong Kong as an arbitration seat and provides a platform for members to learn from each other. She is also a committee vice-chair of Women in Law Hong Kong.

Eric Ng was previously barrister with Gilt Chambers, where he focused on international commercial and construction arbitrations, and general commercial litigation in Hong Kong.

Ng was counsel and tribunal secretary in several major international commercial, construction, and financial arbitrations around the world. He joined HKIAC in 2019 and was a key contributor to its successful virtual hearings initiative and HKIAC Case Connect.
