Introduction

Philip Qiao is a partner at East&Concord Partners, holding a Juris Master degree from the Law School of Peking University. His practice concentrates on the areas of foreign-related dispute resolution. Qiao has almost 20 years of complicated litigation and arbitration experience in the Greater China market. From 2002 to 2006, he was a judge in a court of Beijing, and then became a lawyer to concentrate on foreign-related dispute resolution.

Qiao has been especially skilled in international commercial arbitration and complicated foreign-related business litigation practice, and is frequently active in internationally renowned arbitration institutions including not limited to the ICC, HKIAC, SIAC, CIETAC, BIAC, SCIA, and the Supreme People’s Court of China. He also serves as an arbitrator at the Hainan International Arbitration Court (HIAC).

For nearly 20 years, he has focused on the TMT industry, providing regular legal counsel and dedicated dispute resolution services to many of the industry’s leading companies. He has worked with clients including Microsoft, Didi Taxi, Meituan, NTT, Neophotonics, etc. It is worth mentioning that he is one of the lawyers in mainland China who can use proficient English to provide direct trial services in arbitration courts for clients. In terms of professional writings, he is the author of Understanding English Contracts, and the Handbook of Essential Legal English Vocabulary.

In addition, he has a deep understanding and rich practical experience in bankruptcy derivative arbitration and litigation. He has handled a number of bankruptcy law practical projects, such as the bankruptcy public-utility-debt project of a state-owned large chemical group, and the international cross-border bankruptcy project of a mining group.
