Estrella Elamparo

Estrella Elamparo is a seasoned litigator with more than 25 years of experience in various areas of litigation and has handled many high-profile cases. In the early years of her practice, she was appointed public prosecutor in Manila and became a state prosecutor with the department of justice. She had worked in various law firms and was appointed general counsel of the biggest government financial institution in the country, the Government Service Insurance System, in 2006 during what many believed was a tumultuous time for the government agency. There, she further honed her public relations and crisis management skills, aided by her journalism and communications background.

At DivinaLaw, she heads the firm’s commercial and criminal litigation, as well as established the firm’s crisis management and communications department. She also pioneered the firm’s legal education and policy advocacy practice in recognition of the fact that many of the clients’ problems cannot just be addressed by litigation but sometimes call for a change in legislation or government regulation. Given her background, she is often designated as spokesperson by the firm’s clients.

Elamparo secured her journalism and law degrees from the University of the Philippines and master’s degree in healthcare ethics and law from the University of Manchester, UK, through a Chevening Scholarship.

She has reaped several awards, foremost of which is the very first Woman Lawyer of the Year (2017) of the Asian Legal Business (ALB) Southeast Asia Law Awards. In 2020, she was recognised as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in the Philippines by Asia Business Law Journal.
