Carlos Alfonso Ocampo

Ocampo is the founding partner of Ocampo & Manalo. He currently handles the firm’s corporate law and commercial litigation practice, particularly projects involving M&A, infrastructure development, corporate finance, restructuring and insolvency, and transportation law.  He has almost 30 years of experience in these areas and has been involved in a broad range of complex cross-border commercial transactions and contentious matters. He is credited for his role in deregulating the Philippine aviation industry in the early 1990s when he secured several administrative and congressional franchises for new airline operators, ending a monopoly of the national carrier spanning over 50 years. 

In 2014, AsiaLaw named him a market-leading lawyer in the Philippines, primarily for his commercial and aviation law contributions. Since 2018, Asia Business Law Journal has acknowledged him as among the top 100 lawyers in the Philippines. He has been recommended as a leading lawyer for corporate law and M&A by leading legal publications such as Legal 500. 

He is a published author and has spoken at several international law conferences. He is also a visiting lecturer for commercial law at Lanzhou University in China. He obtained his bachelor of arts in economics, cum laude, and his bachelor of laws from the University of the Philippines. He completed an executive management program at the Asian Institute of Management and earned an executive certificate in economic development from the Harvard Kennedy School. 

Ocampo is a director in various private corporations and an independent director in two publicly listed companies in the Philippines.
